ABOUT ME
hey, it's laihha
Hey, it's Laihha! I create detailed line art illustrations inspired by all that I love - surfing, Hawaii, shouty music, coffee, mental health and more.

I create full canvas illustrations, T-shirt designs, surface patterns, lettering, animations and more.

You can find my art on skateboards, snowboards, beer cans, packaging, apparel, backpacks, mugs, album covers, the list goes on. I love that my art is on everyday items for people to enjoy in their everyday life.

MY STORY
I live on the North Shore of Maui and spend my days being a professional artist, below-average surfer, shouty music enthusiast and caffeine addict.

I've been drawing as long as I can remember and there are a few key points in my life that have shaped my art and style into what it is today.

As a child, my parents were both creative and covered head to toe in tattoos. To me, it was kinda weird if you weren't decorated in art. My dad spent his entire life as a tattoo artist. He taught me some of the basics as early as I could hold a pencil. My classic line art style is heavily inspired by the tattoo culture I grew up around and my dad's influence.

As a teen, I fell in love with punk music. (it's not a phase okay! I still rock). I would drown out the world with my favorite bands and use drawing as a way to connect with music. You could find me trying to recreate my favorite album covers or band merch in my sketchbooks using charcoal and ink.

As an adult, I began to travel the world and found my love for surfing. I surf almost daily and it's been a constant source of inspiration. I'm surrounded by surf culture and out there making surf memories as often as I can, which gives me a consistent flow of ideas. There are a lot of life lessons you can learn through surfing, which I try to carry into my art.

My art is a culmination of all my influences and life experiences from as early as birth to now. I'd like to think that using my imagination for art on a daily basis keeps me close to the little girl I once was who wanted nothing more than to doodle all day.
